Our day yesterday.....

So the day started out with the normal. Kids coughing and this has been going on for about a week. Then Kimo woke-up came out to the living room and I saw that he had a rash around his neck. No worries yet. I called the Dr to see if we could get him in but they were booked. So hubby sent me to the store to get grocries and such. I come home about a hour later to find out that now Kimo has this rash all over his body. To top it off were ever his clothing was touching him (like underwear and socks) it was almost as if he was blistering. So here I am trying to figure out what to do. I drew him a shower and he sat in there and played for about 30mins. We called the Dr and the nurses said she would call us back. See I was thinking that he has Scarlet Fever again and wanted to know what else to do. Well it had been over an hour and a half and still no call from the Dr. So I called her again. I got to speak with her and she told me to take him to urgent care, because she didn't have a space to see him. So off we went at 2pm(when urgent care opened) to see a Dr at Urgent Care. While we were waiting Kino was up and down and wouldn't sit still. He was telling hubby and I that his legs hurt. We got in the room some where between 2:30-3pm. The nurse had us strip both kids down (Nani had a cough so we wanted to get her checked out since we were there), we looked at Kimo and his rash was bright red and his ankles and knees were all swollen. It looked so bad, hubby took some pictures on his phone. So the Dr told us that Nani has Strep Throat (which we later foundout she's too young to have) and the Dr gave us a precription for her. Then he looked Kimo over and didn't know that was going on with him. See Kimo was complaining of his ears hurting Feb 26th and we took him to our Dr's and found out he had another ear infection. She put him on Augmentin, 400milligrams twice a day for ten days. He was almost done taking it all had one dose left to take. So the Dr at Urgent Care told us to take Kimo right away to the ER. When we were leaving hubby was carring Kimo out and the Dr wantd to see if Kimo would walk, he took a couple of steps and then sat down and said he hurt. We got to the ER around 4pm, and Kimo was taken back there around 5pm. The whole time we were waiting boht kids were sleeping in our arms. I couldn't go back there with him because I had Nani with me so I had to wait it out in the waiting room till Derek could come talk to me. Derek came out about 6pm and said he was taking Nani to our friends house so we could both be with Kimo. (Granted I didn't have much for her since this was just suppose to be a short trip to Urgent Care, no bottles of breast milk, no pj's or anything warm to wear) So when I got back to were Kimo was they had already taken blood and urine. Then about 10mins later they did the IV, his was only the hand part and he wasn't put on the drip. They then gave him steroids and benadryl through the IV and he screamed the whole time. He kept telling me to take it out and that is was going deeper in his arm. It was so hard to sit there and watch him go through all this. Everytime he moved he would scream out and cry that he was in pain. He only wanted to hold mommy and daddy's hands. I did get to hol dhim for awhile and he fell asleep. Any time he woke-up he would be crying to get the IV out of his arm. He finally got sleep and slept for hours. We were told that they wanted to admit Kimo over night. So they finaly got him a room and we were up there at 11pm. I then went home to Nani since she needed mommy and hubby stayed with Kimo. So we were released this afternoon a little after 12pm. They said that he had an allergic reaction to the Augmentin, and because his body was already fighting off the medicine and the infection he got a case of viral arthritis. That's why all his joints were swollen. So now we aren't allowed to give him any type of penicillin. Like I said I only had about one more dose left to give Kimo of the Augmentin, but the Dr at the hospital said it could take that long for you to get a reaction to the meds. I am so glad we found this out and didn't just stay home. I couldn't imangine going through all this without the help of the meds the Dr's gave him. We are home now and Kimo is on some type of steroid for 5 days. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up on what happened to us yesterday. BTW: Nani is fine and we didn't give her anything except Tynole.

Here are pictures I took before I gave him the shower. I will have to get the others from hubby so you can all see how bad it got when we were in Urgent Care.

Oh my heavens!! Poor kimo! THANK YOU so much for calling this morning to let us know. his rash lookes so bad in pictures I cna't imagine what it looks like in person. I am on aumittin or however you spell it and I just started it 3 days ago for a double ear infection and it has done NOTHING for me so far. My ears hurt worse now than they did then. I have 15 days of it with taking it two times a day!! What a nightmare it has been so far! So I am so sorry that he and you guys had to go through that. I will have to keep an eye out in case that happens to me. I sure hope not though. Wow!! You guys are in our prayers. Glad you are home now and he is doing a "little" bit better. Hows nani?? We will call later! Love you:)
